Imagine being in 11th grade and still reading at the fourth grade level. I am currently teaching Reading for grades 9-12. Many of my students have never had success as a reader or had the experience of really enjoying the book. They look at reading as a very frustrating activity that they want to avoid at all cost. It is my mission not only to make them proficient readers, but to instill a true love of reading. In addition I would love my students to realize their fullest potential and reinvent themselves. Our students, in their four year journey go from struggling readers to thinking about their future. Including college. My classroom is not just a classroom, but a family. We are a place that celebrates and respect each other. We realize each others dreams. We are about educating the total child. This mean reading, writing and countless experiences. This is allowing my students to see their greatness.
