My students are a very special group. All of my students have autism and yearn for acceptance and understanding. For the past two years, I have used Harry Potter to teach them acceptance, empathy, and understanding. The text and stories have helped them flourish as individuals. I have seen gains in academic performance and confidence. With your help, I can create a reading corner for my students to engage in independent reading. The books that I have requested have pictures that help my students with comprehension. For their sensory needs, I would like for them to be comfortable and completely at ease with chairs.
