I teach Spanish to students in PreK-5th grade, inspiring students to learn about the language and cultures through the use of books. The books selected will be used to introduce new topics, review information, or be used for free reading for older students.
Being a museum-themed magnet school, the use of books to inspire artifact building for our exhibition nights is something that I hope to incorporate as a collaboration with the art instructor at the school.
This project will not only help better my practice, but it will also help my students develop and/or enhance skills utilized in other disciplines. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read.
