Plato wrote, "I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and in all the arts are the keys to learning." Students are constantly pressured to balance technical knowledge with interpersonal understanding; creativity, teamwork, and grit continue to be the most highly sought-after skills. Unsurprisingly, those very skills are at the core of the music classroom! Some may feel music is extra to the mission of schools, but I am proud to work in a school that values the essential importance of the arts. In my classroom, we experience, improvise, create, perform, enjoy, and build confidence and teamwork. My goal is to have my students leave each day having felt valued, challenged, and inspired. Unfortunately, a great music classroom experience costs money, and classroom budget only provides about $1.03 per student. Please support our projects for the students!
