My Swabbies gather on the rug multiple times a day. Instead of students worrying about sitting on top of one another and who's in their personal space, they will be able to focus on what is happening at that moment. We start every morning with a community circle that focuses on social emotional learning, which leads into read alouds, English language development, and math talks to name a few of the activities that we do on the rug. This rug will afford us to build community and strengthen our social emotional learning. We will be able to see everyone's face when we circle around the rug and each student will have an individual spot and enough room to turn and share with a neighbor.
