Children can be overwhelmed by the demands of the classroom and by the continuous stream of stimuli in our society; a Zen-designed classroom will help calm their minds, allowing for a more focused, comfortable and creative day.
The “Zen Classroom” aims to create a peaceful and comfortable environment for learning with a focus on mindful choices and emotional awareness.
Students will use their imaginations and critical thinking skills to determine which seating options best suit their individual and group needs. When selecting alternative seating choices, including wobble stools, floor reading pillows and cafe-style seating, students will get a clear lesson about how their atmosphere and comfort affects their mood, abilities and focus.
With access to titles such as "Maybe: A Little Zen for Little Ones" and "Is Nothing Something?" to the "Inside Out Box of Mixed Emotions," students will read about how to manage moods and redirect their thoughts in a positive way. In this tranquil atmosphere, students will be able to find peaceful solutions within themselves and with others, clearing the way for true growth and learning.
A nature-inspired classroom with plants and simple decor provides a setting where quieting down and focusing is easier and more inviting to energetic fourth graders. Fresh plants offer purified air for creative thinking and bring real living Earth right into their space, creating an inviting, tranquil atmosphere.
With a calmer mind and longer attention span, students will achieve more, in turn building their confidence and strengthening the connection between their environment and abilities. Confidence and quiet in the classroom will open up a space where students can learn to tune into the influential impact of their minds.
