Maniac Magee is a novel written by American author Jerry Spinelli and published in 1990. Exploring themes of racism and inequality, it follows the story of an orphan boy looking for a home in the fictional town of Two Mills. Students will enjoy the balance of action, share their thoughtful insights, and be inspired by the quirky characters. This novel will help my students learn to make sense not only of the world around them but also people, building social-emotional skills and of course, imagination.
