Students have thirty minutes every day in the classroom for individual reading where they are supposed to find books that are the "just right fit." This is because research has shown that when students understand less than 90% of the words in a book, it is very hard for them to understand the message or meaning behind it.
This year, I have several students in the earlier stages of reading, who just need access to books at their level in order to grow as readers. I have some books that match their reading level, but they have already gone through most of them... and it's only the first two weeks of school! I need to supplement what I already have in my classroom library with rich, detailed books that my readers will enjoy and understand. I'm requesting Fiction and Nonfiction Combo book sets, Levels C and D.
