Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
We are the Patriots! Our elementary school has been around for many years. The population of the school is about 800 students and a good percentage of that population is considered low income. The school library is the only place made available to the students where they can borrow books to read. Most of these students have never been to a library outside of school and this is the only place where books are available to them. As the new librarian, I would like to replace older outdated books with new and interesting materials. This school is truly a family-friendly community. I am very grateful to be in such a wonderful and loving environment.
My Project
The Spanish Magic Tree House book collection will help improve the reading skills of the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students learning a second language at the school site. Not only will it improve their reading skills, but the books will be a great addition to the library for years to come. The Washington students are always looking for Spanish books to read and yet our book selection in the school library is very small. Our school has a large DLI student population, therefore I am always looking to request more Spanish books.
More than half of students from low‑income households
