Our students were beyond excited when their first dictionaries arrived. We've let them explore them during independent reading and center time and have modelled how to use a dictionary when reading and writing to check spelling, meaning, etc. \r\n\r\nOur students are excited to continue working with their dictionaries through the remainder of the school year as we explore this valuable educational tool. Students have enjoyed finding our power words (aka site words) in their dictionary and using it as an extension to our language arts and phonics programs. \r\n\r\nWhen we return from the winter break, we will be partnering with our older buddy classes to further learn our dictionaries can help us when reading and writing.
