This novel is a stable in my classroom to teach about the California Gold Rush. The history of this event that changed California is told through the eyes of a 9 year old child. My students, who are also 9, always connect to this adventurous book and tie in things that they learned in their social studies curriculum. \r\n\r\nSince this is a chapter book that I've used for many, many years, my old set of books are literally falling apart. We have had to tape the covers and pages together. What the kids see are torn books, but what I see are books that have been loved by so many. My students feel the same way once we finish with this novel.\r\n\r\nMy students, as well as I, are so very grateful for people like you that support our children and our classrooms.
