Because of you, our students now have beautiful watercolors, watercolor paper, kinetic sand, ice cream molds, mats, a drying rack, and hand soap. Your kindness has truly made a difference.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were so excited. The watercolor paper has helped their paintings really shine. Sometimes their artwork looks like true masterpieces, especially when they blend and mix colors. They love showing each other how they made a certain color and explaining their ideas. The conversations at the table are full of creativity, sharing, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nWatercolor painting has also become a calm space for some children. When they need a quiet moment, they choose to paint. It helps them relax and express their feelings in a peaceful way. I am especially grateful that we have enough watercolor supplies to last the entire year. I no longer have to worry about limiting their creativity because of running out of materials.\r\n\r\nThe sand table is also a big hit. The ice cream molds are loved by everyone! Each day I see new and imaginative \"ice cream\" creations. There is so much sharing, cooperation, and joyful interaction happening there. Students are building friendships while strengthening their fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nThe mat under the easel keeps our floors clean and clearly defines our workspace. The drying rack is just the right size and helps students carefully organize their artwork. They feel proud and responsible when they place their paintings on the rack.\r\n\r\nWe are also very thankful for the hand soap. It supports our daily handwashing routine and helps keep our TK students healthy and safe.\r\n\r\nOur watercolor station and sand table have become centers for endless creativity, conversation, calm moments, and connection. Your generosity has helped create a joyful and meaningful learning environment for our young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1765138302573,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-future-artists-making-a-differe/9923292/","projectTitle":"Fueling Future Artists: Making a Difference in TK Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ranjana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10360784_orig.jpg?crop=840,840,x44,y484&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764648649744","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10360784"},{"teacherId":632895,"projectId":9629071,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the wireless \"Eggspert!\" We have already used it numerous times in class and it adds so much engagement to our lessons!\r\n\r\nAs I had mentioned, I had the original Eggspert and used it for years. It was wonderful, but the wires to the \"team eggs\" always caused a challenge when team members came up to answer questions and had to be careful to not trip on the wires.\r\n\r\nBut this wireless version has been pure perfection! I have already used it in math, grammar, and reading lessons as students \"buzz in\" their answers which adds a \"game-like\" atmosphere and boosts excitement.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, my students have also \"borrowed\" the Eggspert as part of their Literature Circle Game Show Book Review presentations in which they too must \"buzz in\" their answers.\r\n\r\nSo as you can see, we've used your donation often! The class set you purchased for us, \"Wingfeather Saga: On the Edge of the Dark Sea Of Darkness,\" is a highly-rated novel. I can't wait for my class to read it!\r\n\r\nBecause I want my students to gain as much as they can from this novel, we initially kicked it off (see the photos of the gems... a hint of what's to come), and soon realized that with some more direct instruction with word parts (prefixes, suffixes, and root words), the class as a whole would be better able to grasp the wonderful vocabulary used by author, Andrew Peterson.\r\n\r\nTo accomplish that, we gathered back the books, have been working hard on vocabulary development, and we will start the book this February... and we are just as excited.\r\n\r\nAside from a wonderful plot, and teachable story elements, it's the brave character qualities of the protagonists in this book that I am most excited about. Having a specific, high-quality, and highly relevant book for every student has already made a powerful impact that we wanted to share with you.\r\n\r\nNew Kid is more than just a funny graphic novel; it's a profound tool for social-emotional learning, particularly for our middle school students. The book follows Jordan Banks as he navigates a new, academically challenging school where he often feels like an outsider.\r\n\r\nUsing a graphic novel allowed us to practice reading skills in a new way. Students learned to analyze how the artist uses panels, color, and speech bubbles to convey emotion and tone, which is a crucial skill in navigating the media they consume every day.\r\n\r\nWe observed students from different social groups realizing they shared similar anxieties about starting middle school, even if their backgrounds were different. The book helped them see that everyone carries feelings of being a \"new kid\" sometimes, significantly boosting classroom empathy and connection.\r\n\r\nThe most wonderful change has been seeing our reluctant readers dive headfirst into this text. Graphic novels often lower the barrier to entry for readers who feel intimidated by long blocks of text. We have seen a huge increase in reading engagement from students who typically avoid assigned reading. Because they had their own copy, they were eager to read ahead and discuss their favorite panels and plot points.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for providing this engaging and essential resource.","fullyFundedDate":1750256151319,"projectUrl":"project/navigating-middle-school/9250527/","projectTitle":"Navigating Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Campbell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1661168_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472703700298","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1661168"},{"teacherId":1661168,"projectId":9551293,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! Many of you are avid readers, and we wanted to share a peek inside our classroom to show you the difference these books are making.\r\n\r\nWith this influx of fresh, engaging books, reading has truly come to life! It's no longer a silent, individual task; it's an interactive, exciting part of our Friday.\r\nPreviously, choice was limited. Now, the sheer variety means every student can find a book that truly excites them. When students choose what they read, they own the learning, leading to deeper focus and longer reading stamina.\r\nThe impact on individual students has been immediate and heartwarming.\r\n\r\nYour generous gift has not only stocked our shelves but has fundamentally changed the way my students view themselves as readers. Because of you, my students last year were able to start reading this engaging novel that is witty and powerful, and filled with unexpected plot turns!\r\n\r\nI created a packet to be used with the novel that allowed students to explore the rich vocabulary throughout the book. The packet also allowed students to write down character quotes that they especially liked so we could use them as mentor sentences in our morning writing sessions.\r\n\r\nBecause the grant was at the end of the year, we were not able to finish the novel, but I assured my students they could borrow it this year to finish any time - and you can be sure that my upcoming class will enjoy reading it during the new school year.\r\n\r\nI truly believe well-written books allow children to develop their creativity, express themselves more effectively, become strong writers, and \"travel\" along with the characters experiencing and learning right along with the protagonist.
