Through your donations, my students have been able to create art projects that they have never experienced before. They have throughly enjoyed using the materials that you provided for them. \r\n\r\nThe main project that we were able to accomplish together was a clake slice sculpture. Many students had never made a sculpture, or used plaster of paris strips before. They were very excited to have the oppotunity to learn how to use them. Getting their hands \"dirty\" made the project even more fun. \r\n\r\nThey completed their cake slices over a couple of weeks, taking each step slowly. They measured and marked their cardboard pieces to be cut. They taped each piece together with masking tape, then used plaster of paris strips and water to completely cover it. While it slowly dried, they shaped modeling clay to decorate the cake with. They waited for the pieces to dry, painted, and glued it on the cake. After everything was completely dry, students painted their slices carefully with acrylic paint. After that dried off, they were sprayed with a gloss setting spray, and glued to a paper plate.\r\n\r\nThis project showed them that could in fact complete a scupture, and the importance of working patiently to acheive it. Furthermore, they improved skills like critical thinking, and problem-solving when things didn't work out as they had planned. Additionally, they were able to creatively push themselves to completion. This is just one of the many activities the students have made, and there are many more to come. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your time and generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1753887008415,"projectUrl":"project/community-through-creativity/9396191/","projectTitle":"Community Through Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yao","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10029421"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3805","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":638,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":11,"percentAsian":90,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":83.9,"schoolId":3805,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Warm Springs Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Warm Springs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fremont-unified-school-district/warm-springs-elementary-school/3805"}
