By incorporating these books into our read-aloud sessions, students engaged in interactive discussions, enhancing their vocabulary and comprehension skills. These read-alouds encouraged students to make predictions, ask questions, and connect personally with the stories, which are key strategies in developing critical thinking and language abilities.  \r\n\r\nIntegrating these stories with our Step Up to Writing curriculum allowed students to draw connections between reading and writing. They began to see themselves as authors, using the narratives as models for their own writing. This approach not only improved their writing skills but also boosted their confidence and enthusiasm for storytelling. Notably, students who were previously hesitant to write became more engaged, often choosing to revisit these books during free time, which further reinforced their learning and enjoyment of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1739366807602,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-read-alouds-to-build-backgr/8957836/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten Read Alouds to Build Background Knowledge for Every Season!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7742037_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665247416250","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7742037"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56411","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":722,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.6,"schoolId":56411,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Discovery Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Discovery Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fruitvale-school-district/discovery-elementary-school/56411"}
