They had a budget and were rewarded for protecting their egg from an impact with a trailer hitch, dropped from varying heights up to nearly two meters. As you can imagine, the mess an event like this created was only rivaled by the level of excitement it created. \r\n\r\nAfter each group had tested their project, with a few successes and failures along the way, we started the clean-up process. Students groaned, as they tend to do, but especially when they realized they were going to be picking up confetti by hand. At that moment, when I quietly handed a future engineer our new vacuum and asked him to turn it on, 25 heads turned sharply toward the noise, and 25 cheers reverberated off the classroom walls and echoed down the hallway. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity. This project was a step towards setting the tone for our club and creating the teamwork mentality that will hopefully bring us success on our competition day in March 2026.","fullyFundedDate":1757423388448,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-is-a-messy-business/9676284/","projectTitle":"Engineering Is a Messy Business!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Craven","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9733587_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755218925408","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9733587"},{"teacherId":9687368,"projectId":9117556,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the wobble stools, their faces lit up. They were immediately curious and excited to try them, and by the end of the first week, it became a friendly race to see who could grab one first. The stools have become a favorite feature in our classroom, students even come in early just to claim their spot. Their enthusiasm showed me how much these small changes can truly impact student motivation and comfort.\r\n\r\nThe wobble stools have transformed our classroom into a space of movement, focus, and inclusion. During art projects and note-taking sessions, students can gently move while working, helping them stay engaged and relaxed. This flexibility has been especially supportive for my neurodivergent learners, who often need subtle movement to focus, but I've noticed that all students benefit. The stools make it easier for everyone to stay on task, manage energy levels, and feel comfortable in their own bodies while creating art. Our classroom feels alive, with students collaborating, laughing, and finding their rhythm as they learn.\r\n\r\nCurrently, my students are using the stools during both creative and academic lessons, from sketching still life studies to taking Cornell notes on art history. The movement helps them regulate energy, maintain focus, and express themselves confidently. As we move into our next project exploring the principles of design, I can already see how these stools are shaping a positive, differentiated learning environment where every student can feel supported and inspired.","fullyFundedDate":1746785347335,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-focused-and-engaged/9117556/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Focused and Engaged Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Haley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9687368_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740019997174","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9687368"},{"teacherId":125264,"projectId":9312345,"letterContent":"Having a complete class set of calculators that are working and in great condition has been a game changer for our classroom! Before, we had to share and not all calculators were of the same quality. This caused unnecessary conflict that got in the way of our learning and detracted from our class culture. However, now every student has their own and gets to practice their math in the correct way. 8th Graders need calculators for computations with irrational numbers such as pi and imperfect square roots. It's also makes the content more accessible for our students with special needs and learning differences. Thank you for providing this imperative tool for our class!
