Smith Elementary. This program provides an invaluable opportunity for our school community. For one week, every student in our school participates in this event. It begins when they each receive their own copy of the book and throughout the week, classes read the book together-sometimes during read aloud time and sometime during quiet reading time and participate in discussions and activities about the book. Students also read the book at home with their parents. This program fosters a sense of unity throughout our school community from students to staff to parents and ignites a passion for reading!\r\n\r\nTo further illustrate the impact this program makes on our families, we received this email from a parent:\r\n\r\n\"My own kids participated in One School, One Book for the second year in a row and it was nothing short of amazing, yet again. Walking around the baseball field and seeing kids holding, discussing, and reading the same book gave me chills. I read the book alongside my kids and we were able to have character discussions and plot development conversations with each chapter. Such community partnership created a sense of unity that went far beyond the pages of the book.\r\n\r\nThe support of donors who funded this project didn't just provide books; it sparked conversations, strengthened literacy, and brought our community closer together. Many of our students would not have had access to this experience without you. The joy, confidence, and enthusiasm for reading that we've seen are a direct result of your kindness.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for investing in their growth as readers and learners.
