Students had the opportunity to arrange their own still life using the props we received from this project. We arranged a mixture of faux fruits, wooden forms, and a skull model. The students practiced sketching the objects in pencil and then created a final version where they shaded the objects in charcoal pencil. Our students had so much fun drawing the props! We look forward to using them in future art projects.","fullyFundedDate":1753975748411,"projectUrl":"project/still-life-props/9397657/","projectTitle":"Still Life Props","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Flores","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6699192_orig.jpg?crop=1065,1065,x10,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565908479138","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6699192"},{"teacherId":6699192,"projectId":9413135,"letterContent":"Our classroom received a much needed upgrade with the new Elements of Art and Principles of Design posters. For many of our 9th-12th graders it was their first or second time working with clay in an educational setting. Some of our students disclosed that they had not taken an art class before getting to high school and it was proven to be a very positive experience for them. \r\n\r\nThey enjoyed working with their hands and getting to experiment with making different things from small vessels, figurines, and even keychain charms. Students were even able to paint their small creations using acrylic paint which brought their works to life. Students were very engaged and committed to their Clay projects throughout the entire time. You could tell that their stress and worries seemed to melt away while they worked with the clay. We recently had students fill out a survey and when asked to name one of their favorite projects from the school year I was surprised to see that many listed this collage project as their favorite. Collage is one of my favorite mediums as well and I can say from experience that the benefits of working with simple tools like paper and scissors really do help alleviate stress and anxiety. I recall how engaged and focused students were while they worked on their collage projects. Many enjoyed having the large variety of colors to pick from. You can see evidence of that in the finished artworks that we framed and are currently displayed in our school hallway.
