These tools help them stay regulated, focused, and ready to learn throughout the day. The snacks have also been very helpful as reinforcements, allowing us to celebrate effort and encourage positive participation during lessons and activities.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite activities has been practicing functional life skills. In our classroom, students take turns learning how to vacuum. They are excited to have a chance to try it themselves, and they cheer each other on while they practice. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they learn skills that will help them become more independent.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were very curious and excited. They immediately wanted to explore the sensory items and were proud to use the new tools during our daily routines.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue building on these functional and self-regulation skills. Students will keep practicing classroom jobs like cleaning and organizing, while also using the sensory supports to help them stay engaged in learning activities. Most of all they truly enjoy reading our new classroom books.\r\nStudents have also enjoyed all of the snacks, which have been used as reinforcement and snack time.
