My students are working hard to complete a 40 Book Challenge, 40 books in 40 weeks of school. In addition, the added layer I have is to try books in different genres so they venture outside of their comfort zone and hopefully find a new author or series that they never would have tried. It's working! I got a lot of historical fiction with the books donated and kids are really getting into them. \r\n\r\nI also was able to complete a few series that I needed to complete, which has made many students excited to keep reading. I have one student who had read number one in the \"Front Desk\" series and when I got the rest, she was floored. She went around \"selling\" it to her classmates on how they had to read the first one so they could talk about it and continue the series with her. \r\n\r\n It makes my heart so happy to look around the room during our 20 minutes of read to self time, and have all kids snuggled up with a good book. No one is talking everyone is engaged and when the time ends, there is a collective groan as they never want it to end.
