Your generosity has made a meaningful difference for my students.\r\nThe alphabet tubs you helped provide include small toys and objects that correspond with different letters. These hands-on materials allow students to physically hold, explore, and connect objects with the letters and sounds they represent. For many of my students, especially those who learn best through tactile and visual experiences, this concrete approach makes abstract concepts much easier to understand.\r\nI have been working closely with one of my students who has autism using these alphabet tubs to help him learn letter sounds and identify letters. This student was adopted and came into the world facing challenges that affect the way his brain processes information. He is neurodivergent, which means he learns and experiences the world a little differently than many of his peers. Because of this, traditional paper-and-pencil learning can be difficult for him. The toys in the alphabet tubs give him something meaningful and concrete to connect with each letter, helping him stay engaged and making learning feel more like play.\r\nAfter using these tubs consistently for about a month, I have already seen wonderful progress. This student is now able to correctly identify six to eight more letters than he could when we first began. Watching his confidence grow as he recognizes more letters has been incredibly rewarding.\r\nYour donation has helped turn learning the alphabet into an engaging, hands-on experience that truly meets my students where they are. Resources like these make a tremendous difference in helping children build foundational literacy skills.\r\nThank you again for your kindness and support. We are so grateful for your generosity and for believing in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1769454933375,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-the-alphabet-alive-for-special/10051447/","projectTitle":"Bringing the Alphabet Alive for Special Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snyder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9742525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760069888911","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9742525"},{"teacherId":10092846,"projectId":9646343,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making this project possible. Because of your generosity, our counseling office now has resources and a space that truly supports students—not only emotionally, but in ways that prepare them for success beyond school.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new materials every day during counseling sessions, small groups, and individual check-ins. One meaningful moment occurred when a student who was feeling overwhelmed independently chose a calming tool and practiced a regulation strategy we had learned together. Instead of escalating, they were able to calm their body, talk through their emotions, and return to class ready to participate. This is exactly the kind of growth we are working toward—helping students develop strong social-emotional skills they will need to navigate school, relationships, and society.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. Many immediately shared how happy they felt having a counseling office that felt peaceful, welcoming, and safe. They were eager to learn how each tool could help them calm down, express their feelings, and problem-solve in healthy ways. Several students have since shared that this space helps them feel understood and supported.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our students include continuing lessons focused on emotional awareness, self-regulation, communication, and coping strategies. Students are learning how to recognize their emotions, choose appropriate tools to manage them, and reflect on how their choices affect themselves and others. Learning how to calm down and work through emotions is incredibly important as students prepare to interact successfully with peers, teachers, and the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1765205055987,"projectUrl":"project/calming-space-for-small-group-sel-lesson/9646343/","projectTitle":"Calming Space for Small Group SEL Lessons","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guadarrama","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10092846_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x188,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753457062148","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10092846"},{"teacherId":9742525,"projectId":9813147,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing hands-on phonics tools for our classroom! These materials have truly made a difference in our daily small-group spelling instruction and have brought so much excitement and confidence to our students.\r\nWe use the phonics visuals and Elkonin boxes on wipe-off boards every day to help students sound out words and tap individual phonemes. The letter tiles have been especially helpful because they give students a clear, visual reminder of how sounds connect to letters. This hands-on, multi-sensory approach has been incredibly beneficial for students with auditory processing delays and learning disabilities. As students work on spelling, they can move the tiles, try different spelling options, and self-correct as they problem-solve, which builds both independence and confidence.\r\nMy students were also so excited to see the underwater coloring poster! I hung it up on the wall right away, and it has quickly become a favorite in our classroom. Students love using it during breaks, and it gives them a calming, enjoyable way to self-regulate—especially after working hard on challenging tasks like writing paragraphs. Having something peaceful and engaging to turn to has helped students reset and return to learning more focused and ready to keep going.\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn. Special thanks to Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation Team, Rosa Galera, Norma Leon, and the Amazon Future Engineer Initiative. \r\n\r\nThanks to your contributions, our students had the chance to learn about the Prusa MK4 3D printer. They gained hands-on experience feeding and changing filaments, slicing their creations in TinkerCad, and converting STL files into G-code. This experience not only sparked their interest in technology and engineering but also encouraged them to think creatively.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the emphasis on literacy was a wonderful touch. By writing about their creations and giving credit to model printouts that weren't their own, my students developed valuable skills in documentation and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThe joy they experienced throughout the 3D printing process was truly inspiring.
