They tore into the boxes and immediately started dribbling and shooting around the gym. Basketball is the number one thing they want to do, whether it's during PE, at lunch, after school, or on our Open Gym Fridays. Before this, we just didn't have enough decent balls to go around, and it caused a lot of waiting and frustration. Now everyone gets more time actually playing, which has made a huge difference in keeping energy high and class time positive.\r\n\r\nFor a lot of my students—who face tough circumstances outside of school—basketball is their outlet, their favorite way to connect with each other, and a big reason they look forward to coming to the gym. Having enough quality equipment has really opened that up for them.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll keep using the basketballs daily for drills, team games, and small tournaments. Thank you for giving them something they truly wanted and will use every single day. During my tenure I have noticed that almost 30% of students are behind on their literacy skills. I have found that when a student understand what you are asking them to do, they will do it. I wanted to provide an opportunity for our students to experience more success in their lives. Reading touches every part of our lives. \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to have access to materials that support them to learn in new and different ways. We built word walls that were color coded to help us differentiate between our vocabulary words. We used posters and markers to share our ideas and demonstrate our learning. We used the colored sheets to organized our reading tools and the pens to write papers and respond to text. \r\n\r\nWe have made a range of growth this year from the tools you provided and others. So far our results show about .25% of a reading level to over 2 reading levels growth.
