At the same time, I also started working toward my college degree to become a certified CTE teacher. I share that because, before this, my only teaching experience was in a youth group setting. Before stepping into the classroom, I would have thought those experiences were pretty similar—but after four months, I can confidently say they are not even close.\r\n\r\nWhile my time as a youth group leader laid a strong foundation—teaching me how to build relationships, have meaningful conversations with students, and tell stories (something I'm still learning and growing in)—classroom teaching has been a whole new world.\r\n\r\nI think it's important to share these details because when I started in January, I truly knew nothing about running a classroom, and I had just three days to prepare before students returned from Christmas break. Thanks to your generous gifts and donations, I was able to keep my head above water. Because of your support, this classroom became a safe space, a place of refuge, and a hands-on learning environment for my students.\r\n\r\nAs a donor, you might sometimes wonder if your gift really made a difference. I want you to hear directly from the students themselves:\r\n\r\n\"Your classroom just feels so chill and like I can breathe.\"\r\n\r\n\"Mrs. Nunez – you've given our voices back.\"\r\n\r\n\"Every time I come in here, I feel like I can just drop all the pressure I carry.\"\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I believe my job is to create meaningful content and provide a strong learning environment. But because of your generosity, this room has become so much more—a place of fresh air, freedom, and comfort. I couldn't have done it without you.\r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of my heart.","fullyFundedDate":1738270790043,"projectUrl":"project/pouring-into-the-next-generation/9029446/","projectTitle":"Pouring into the Next Generation!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kenzie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9887056"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42229","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":216,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":42229,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Burlington High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Burlington High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/burlington-school-district-re-6j/burlington-high-school/42229"}
