With this project my students who were struggling with the concepts of transformations in geometry were able to get hands on tools to help them to understand the concepts and demonstrate their learning. When these tools arrived the students were so excited to use them. I was amazed to see how some of the wanted to use the peg boards and others focused on the dry erase boards. I think that the best part was that they were helping each other to learn how to complete the transformations using one or both of the tools. This was such a great way for the students to learn and I wish I had thought of it sooner. I was trying to help them with the concepts and I was struggling as well until I started to draw them out for myself on paper, and that is what led me to looking for these tools to help them. Thank you again for helping my students recover their math credits with your support.","fullyFundedDate":1742415768837,"projectUrl":"project/understanding-geometric-transformations/9169451/","projectTitle":"Understanding Geometric Transformations","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Dowling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp246580_orig.jpg?crop=716,716,x324,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694808359232","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/246580"},{"teacherId":246580,"projectId":9128796,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our class and our need for Chromebook chargers and extension cords. In our Credit Recovery program the students are working on courses that are assigned to them through an online program. The students need to be able to use their Chromebooks in order to access their online classes and assignments. Each student, at the beginning of the school year, has a Chromebook and charger checked out to them. They are told that they are supposed to charge their devices at night and bring their chargers with them to school in case they need to charge them. Unfortunately most of the students lose their chargers and then use that as an excuse to not have to work in class. Through your donation we were able to get 20 chargers and one extension cord tower that ensures that students can continue to work on their assignments through the entire class period. \r\n\r\nThis year we were able to recover the credits for over 60 seniors who were not going to be bale to graduate due to your generous donations. Thank you for caring about them and allowing them this opportunity to recovery their credits and graduate.","fullyFundedDate":1740524273392,"projectUrl":"project/a-definite-power-source/9128796/","projectTitle":"A Definite Power Source","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Dowling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp246580_orig.jpg?crop=716,716,x324,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694808359232","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/246580"},{"teacherId":3500866,"projectId":8584217,"letterContent":"Your donations of news props, green screens and microphone sets have made an instrumental difference in our student-led work. Our students have moved beyond just daily news stories and into profiling members of their community and compiling interviews that are meaningful to students to share during teacher professional development and more. It is now a common routine for student leaders to find me with student feature ideas and voices to highlight and I am happy to check out equipment and let them lead the way, with me behind them as support. \r\n\r\nWhen we first recieved all the sets, students were overwhelmed with the idea that now many groups can collect many voices at once. We quickly created a charging station and check-in/check-out system of devices. I used class time to create a few assignments that were interviews with a purpose and guided them through basic video editing. This is the Tiktok generation, so many of them found editing intuitive, it was softer skills of prepping for interviews and inclusive skills of adding captions that needed work. Once we got that work down and they felt confident in their ability to tell a story - the sky was the limit. \r\n\r\nI am beyond proud of them and the work they are doing. This would not have been possible without our donors.
