The meditation tools, such as the Tibetan Singing Bowl and meditation cards, have become part of our daily mindfulness practice, helping students center themselves at the start of class. Students were at first just curious about the new objects, but now pride themselves on being able to make the singing bowl produce its sound.\r\n\r\nExcitement and curiosity filled the room when students first saw the new materials, especially the Rubik's cubes and shashibo. The colorful posters on U.S. history and government sparked interest right away, and students gravitated toward the puzzle cubes and conversation card games during breaks. Several students expressed how the meditation cards and coloring books helped them unwind after challenging days during my seminar classes. Seeing how these resources immediately engaged them reinforced how valuable these tools are for both learning and emotional support.\r\n\r\nOur next project focuses on civic activism and community improvement. Students will choose a social justice issue, research its history using our new library of books, including The New Jim Crow and The Color of Law, and create a multimedia presentation advocating for change. They'll incorporate insights gained from the individuals featured on the posters and flashcards on government structure and economic ideologies. We'll continue using the conversation cards to build communication skills and the meditation tools to stay grounded throughout our daily work\r\n\r\nThese resources have already made a significant impact, helping students feel supported, engaged, and ready to learn.
