One project we recently did was a \"Snack Swap\" activity, where students compared the ingredients and nutrition labels of their usual choices to the healthier alternatives you provided. The conversations were eye-opening—students were surprised at how much sugar and empty calories were in some of their favorite snacks, and many shared that they want to make better choices moving forward.\r\n\r\nWhen the snacks first arrived, the students' faces lit up. Many of them are not used to having consistent access to healthy options, and they immediately began asking questions like, \"Can we try these today?\" and \"Are these really good for us?\" It was such a powerful moment to see their excitement matched with curiosity.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our health unit, the next step is for students to design a one-week meal and snack plan that balances nutrition with affordability. Having real examples of healthy foods in class has made this project much more meaningful—they're not just reading about good choices, they're experiencing them firsthand.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me give my students both the tools and the confidence to take steps toward healthier lifestyles. Your contribution truly made a difference in our classroom, and I'm excited to share the growth we'll continue to make.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\n[Your Name]","fullyFundedDate":1749493801667,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-they-are-more-than-just-brain-fue/9184218/","projectTitle":"Snacks-they Are More Than Just Brain Fuel","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. P","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9220515"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131551","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":100,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":90.0,"schoolId":131551,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Black Canyon High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Black Canyon High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/montrose-co-sch-dist-re-1j/black-canyon-high-school/131551"}
