Before I explain how I used the materials, I want to tell you a little bit about my class. It's one unlike you've ever heard of before...how do I know this? Because I created it! It's called Student Leadership, but it's not the typical SL one might think of with class representatives, education about government, and raising and lowering our American Flag. This class is all about character traits and how to be a better person. In there I get to teach kids about integrity, something I call the Mama Trait, because all other traits are a part of it. We also focus on many other character traits, such as effort, respect, responsibility, kindness, patience, and loyalty, just to name a few; but there are three main focal points: integrity, empathy, and gratitude. That last one is where your donation comes into play.\r\n\r\nThere are two really important benefits to kids writing thank you notes, and that's why I incorporate them into my curriculum. One is that it teaches kids the world is more than just about them. We need to acknowledge \r\nothers for what they do and how they contribute to the world. Secondly, research shows that gratitude literally makes us happier. Thinking about the people and things in our lives to be grateful for can't help but make us feel good.\r\n\r\nI usually include a Thank You Notes Station as part of our Centers Day, and the kids absolutely love it! I give them ideas of people they could write to and a list of sentence starters to help them if they need it. I provide a ton of different kids of cards, stickers, and pens (thanks to you!). They are always so eager to get started, and I can't tell you how many times kids have asked if they can make another one or if they can take one with them to finish later. They truly enjoy this, so I try to do it at least three times a quarter (I get new students each quarter).\r\n\r\nMy gratitude for you has certainly made me happier, and I hope reading how your donation makes a difference in my classroom will bring a smile to your face as well.","fullyFundedDate":1747069877072,"projectUrl":"project/expressing-gratitude/9281720/","projectTitle":"Expressing Gratitude","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bauer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3648281_orig.jpg?crop=900,900,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693064941763","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3648281"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43090","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":749,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":30.0,"schoolId":43090,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fort Morgan Middle School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Fort Morgan Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/morgan-co-school-district-re-3/ft-morgan-middle-school/43090"}
