The kids love to use this for academics, free time, and being able to have this as a flex seating option. It replaced a chair that was on its last legs. This chair is essential to our reading corner. The students feel very important when they are able to sit and read to each other from the big chair.\r\n\r\nStaff has been able to help students engage more when they are listening to a story. The ability to swivel and show the pictures is huge. The students were excited when the giant boxes arrived. They thought it was magic when it got put together in front of them and all wanted to have the first sit.\r\nThe students think this is a VIP chair too. They are respectful, ask permission to use it, and make sure that visitors to the room understand the rules for the chair such as empty pockets from things that will poke, clean hands, and only one at a time. I have seen a wonderful impact that was unexpected for a few of the students who do not like to read. they will sit with their read aloud story books and digital lessons without any argument if they get some time in the chair.\r\n\r\nThank you DC Donors and Governor Polis for making this happen! This is the second year that we were able to grow our caterpillars and watch them change and grow into butterflies. This taught the class some real life science and gave them the chance to see the miracle of life. Without donors like you, we would not have been able to see their faces light up when the babies grew bigger and made their cocoons. I would not have seen the awe and surprise when the butterflies began hatching and the kids became animated as each one appeared.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Our significant support needs students were able to share this experience with other students along the way. We hope to keep this tradition going and have this experience again. We have convinced our staff to help us plant some pollinator bushes outside also, to be able to have the butterflies stick around a little longer for next time.\r\n\r\nI am grateful for these joyful experiences for my wonderful students.
