My students absolutely loved learning about the rainbow through the brand-new books we were able to learn with because of YOU! \r\n\r\nAfter reading Planting a Rainbow, The Hidden Rainbow: A Springtime Book For Kids, Raindrops to Rainbow and The Tiny Seed: With seeded paper to grow your own flowers! to 1st and 2nd graders, we were able to launch into our lesson learning about the colors of the rainbow, as well as primary and secondary colors.\r\n\r\nStudents first drew large flowers that were so large the petals \"fell\" off the page. We then colored in the flower using as many colors as possible. After our flowers were colored and vibrant, students used \"cool color\" watercolors to finish the rest of the art piece. In joining this play with them I have been able to offer them strategies to manage grief, resolve conflicts, talk through disagreements, process disappointment and so much more.
