We ordered a lot of beads, wiring, and twine. We even made some of our own beads with glass and a hand held torch. We learned the art of paracord bracelet making. We learned about the different types of clasps that are available and what is best. My favorite part of this project was gathering around a big table with my entire class and making beautiful jewelry together. It was like a sewing circle where everyone contributed and learned from one another. I have really accumulated a lot of nice art supplies and my students are growing in interest and skill each day. I have gathered lots of yarn for weaving, crocheting, making yarn dolls and misc. crafts. I have students learning the art of glass fusing this year which is new to my district. My students are getting the opportunity to paint on stretched canvas and not just restricted to paper. We now have a laminator to keep students masterpieces fresh and clean. I have also brought in card stock and new printmaking supplies. Clay is taking off and students are learning to hand-build and work on the pottery wheel. My students are being handed the world in my classroom. Like the world, it is what you do with the opportunity given to you.
