Prior to this project, my art room did not have a printer. Honestly, the art room does not even have a sink, so it can be very difficult to create beautiful artwork with these limitations. With the printer, I have been able to print on-demand reference images for my students to use, especially with their most recent project, a self-portrait inspired by Kehinde Wiley.\r\n\r\nThis is very exciting for our students because now they can better visualize how they want their artwork to look. In our most recent project, I printed out images that my students took, and then they traced a paper over the image against our windows to create the outline of their self-portraits. After they traced their images, they separated their drawing and the printed out paper. My students applied value to their faces to make their self-portraits \"pop out\", or have depth.\r\n\r\nMy students are particularly excited about this technology because now there is no wait time between choosing their images and beginning their artwork. Prior to the printer, if I wanted students to use a reference image, they would not be able to have the printed out image until the next class period in the following day, which left them somewhat stagnant for the remainder of the class period.\r\n\r\nThis technology has eliminated the frustrating wait for printed materials, fostering a more immediate and engaging learning environment. Your support in providing on-demand access to both black and white and color reference images is invaluable. Thank you for investing in our students' artistic journeys and helping us overcome these previous limitations.
