Even though this project wasn't a traditional technology purchase, the materials have had a powerful impact on student engagement, motivation, and learning in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe resources you funded — including the disco-themed award items — help reinforce important habits that directly support students' academic progress. When students know that their attendance, participation, and positive attitude are being recognized, they become more consistent, more confident, and more willing to engage with technology and curriculum in meaningful ways. The award has become a fun, motivating tool that encourages students to show up ready to learn, which makes every lesson more effective.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the sense of accomplishment and celebration that comes with earning the award. They love the theme, the recognition, and the feeling that their hard work is visible to others. It has created a joyful, supportive atmosphere where students cheer one another on and take pride in their growth.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular has truly warmed to this project. She began the school year very hesitant—quiet, unsure, and often worried that her English wasn't \"good enough.\" As she watched classmates be recognized for their persistence and participation, she started pushing herself to attend more regularly and speak up more often. When she finally received the award, she said it was the first time she felt \"seen\" for her effort rather than her mistakes. Her confidence since then has grown in every aspect of her learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has brought encouragement, celebration, and positive energy into our classroom. You have helped our adult learners feel valued, supported, and motivated to keep moving forward.","fullyFundedDate":1762571414955,"projectUrl":"project/boogie-for-better-attendance-the-dedica/9859671/","projectTitle":"Boogie for Better Attendance: The Dedication Disco Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Valdez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9842995_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733068144516","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stine-valdez"},{"teacherId":9852002,"projectId":9602406,"letterContent":"I can't tell you how much your generosity has meant to my students and myself. It is very easy for my students to feel forgotten or pushed to the side because they dropped out of traditional high school. They have \"failed\" so many times they begin to feel like they are failures. Learning how to use the Cricut involved more than one \"failure\", but instead of giving up, we figured out what we did wrong and tried again. (and again and again) until we were able to create a logo and a saying we could get behind.\r\n\r\nWe are still learning the ins and outs of using the Cricut effectively, but the process has become more important than the product. The logo we came up with is a phoenix and the motto is \"Rising from the Ashes\". My students felt like coming to this school gave them another opportunity to soar and their past \"failures\" no longer defined them. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the confidence they received by learning something new, working together to create a class logo brought students from various ages, towns, and backgrounds onto the same playing field. Students have made connections to each other that has helped them to encourage each other to continue with their education and to succeed in all areas of their lives. \r\n\r\nNone of this growth would have been possible without your generosity. It means so much to me that my students feel privileged instead of forgotten. Many of my learners come straight to class after long work shifts or while juggling family responsibilities. Having healthy snacks available instantly gave them the energy to focus on learning rather than their hunger. The smiles, gratitude, and even sighs of relief in those first moments made it clear that this project was about much more than food—it was about caring for the whole student.\r\n\r\nWe've already seen the positive effects in our classroom. During a recent group reading activity, students were able to stay engaged and participate fully through the entire lesson, something that can be difficult when fatigue sets in. One student even commented, \"I can actually concentrate now—I don't feel so tired.\" The snacks not only fueled their minds but also created a sense of community as students shared and encouraged each other.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps include tackling a larger writing project where students will draft personal narratives about their educational journeys. With their basic needs met, they're better able to give their full attention and creativity to the task. Your support has helped turn our classroom into a place where students feel seen, supported, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1750256118377,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-success-snacks-for-hardworking/9269706/","projectTitle":"Fueling Success: Snacks for Hardworking Adult Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Valdez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9842995_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733068144516","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stine-valdez"},{"teacherId":9842995,"projectId":9147338,"letterContent":"When our \"Help Feed Minds and Fuel Dreams\" project was funded, the excitement in our classroom was contagious. My students lit up when they first saw the new resources, and many of them immediately began talking about how much easier it would be to focus on learning without worrying about hunger. It was clear that these materials were more than just food—they were a sign that someone believes in their success.\r\n\r\nWe've already put the resources to good use. For example, one of my students, who often came to class tired and distracted, shared that having a healthy snack available gave him the energy to stay engaged through the end of class. During a group writing project, I noticed students were not only more focused, but also more supportive of one another—passing snacks around the table as they brainstormed together. That simple act created a sense of community and belonging in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students include diving deeper into literacy and career readiness projects with the confidence that their basic needs are met.
