With the new resources, students have been able to take ownership of their learning in a way that feels more authentic and engaging. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a group of students huddled together, using the materials to problem-solve and excitedly calling each other over to share discoveries. I make so many fun games with my students with them that make learning so much more enjoyable. We learn the beginning sounds of every day items, and even items they are not familiar with- such as an old school eraser!\r\n\r\nThese items have opened up so many doors for learning, and I am always so excited to share new ways of enjoying literacy with my students and seeing just how much they are capable of learning! I was amazed at all of the wonderful things they could create. They also really enjoy the rhythm sticks where we learn direction words and rhymes as we sing with them! I have such a musical group.\r\n\r\nI hope to continue finding additional ways to encourage science in my classroom in the most unexpected ways! We (as a class) love to use the different breaths in the cards given, and the visual timers are consistently used as a transition tool to stop and take a breath! Some students have enjoyed using it personally to attend to activities knowing that there is a time frame in which they can be finished. The puppets have brought out so much play and communication for non-speaking students who typically prefer to play alone. We also incorporate life skills lessons into play with them.\r\n\r\nMy students have been so grateful and have grown immensely due to these additions. We have been exploring the books as a group and Individually. This has allowed for the children to see it say it and read it!
