Hands-on activities like this give our students a deeper understanding of how the ear works and how it relates to their specific disability.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe resources you provided allowed our mixed-age group of students to build an edible model of the ear. This project served as a culminating activity after several weeks of lessons focused on how hearing loss impacts their learning.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the fun edible components, their eyes lit up! Their first question was, \"When can we eat it?\" It was wonderful to see them learn and engage in such an interactive way.\r\n\r\n\r\nNow that we've completed the edible ear project, our team is moving on to teaching students about the different types of hearing loss and identifying the specific type they each have. Starting with the edible ear model gives them a strong foundation for understanding how the ear functions, which in turn helps them better grasp how their own hearing loss affects them.","fullyFundedDate":1758229662941,"projectUrl":"project/edible-ear-anatomy-for-deaf-and-hard-of/9719294/","projectTitle":"Edible Ear Anatomy for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hunt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9659709"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74997","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":687,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.5,"schoolId":74997,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Quest Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Quest Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/brevard-public-schools/quest-elementary-school/74997"}
