The snacks and treats you provided have become a powerful motivator for my 9th-grade readers. Each time a student passes a skills check or levels up, they get to choose a reward, which has completely transformed the energy in our reading classroom. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students cheer each other on as they attempted a difficult word study level, knowing they had a celebration waiting at the finish line. These incentives have helped create a positive, encouraging culture around reading and skill-building. Students were shocked—and thrilled—to see shelves filled with snacks just for them as a reward for their hard work. Several said, \"We've never had anything like this before!\" The excitement alone pushed many of them to dive right into new Lexia units with confidence. Our next goal is continued growth in Lexia across Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension. Your support has already made a measurable difference:\r\n\r\nWord Study: In my 5th-period class, 40% of students have already moved to Intermediate or Advanced levels.\r\n\r\nGrammar: In 7th period, 28% of students have progressed to Intermediate or Advanced.\r\n\r\nComprehension: Again in 5th period, 40% of students have advanced, showing stronger understanding of grade-level texts.\r\n\r\nWith your help, students are not just earning treats—they're building confidence, mastering foundational skills, and actually enjoying reading.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in them and supporting their journey. Thanks to your support, our 12 student interns now have a reliable way to keep their laptops fully charged and ready for learning every day.\r\nThis simple addition has transformed our classroom! Interns no longer worry about losing valuable instructional time due to dead batteries. Instead, they are engaged, prepared, and confident in completing assignments, participating in lessons, and developing essential digital skills for the workforce.\r\nOne story that truly highlights the power of your gift is a student who recently used his fully charged laptop to write a professional resume. With that resume, he applied for a job and was hired! \r\nAdditionally, as a result of your donation, five of our interns recently used their fully charged laptops to take and pass the ServSafe certification exam, an important credential for careers in food service. These achievements are direct outcomes of having the tools and resources to stay connected and productive.\r\nYour contribution didn't just provide a charging station; it provided opportunity, independence, and hope for our future workers. This generous gift has been extremely beneficial to my Spanish classes, advancing their education as well as uplifting the classroom environment. The gift of the iPad from the Ðǿմ«Ã½ community has been a game-changer for my students by opening a new form of oral presentation. It allows my classroom to stay engaged, as well as keeps students entertained. The iPad allows them to record and review their presentations, which significantly enhances their ability to communicate in Spanish. It is a handy tool for developing their speaking skills, building their confidence, and giving them the opportunity to hear their own progress. \r\n \r\nThe introduction of advanced technology like this iPad is transforming the way we learn in the classroom. It not only makes learning more interactive and engaging, but it also supports a deeper understanding of the language. My students are now able to practice their speaking at their own pace, reviewing their recordings to pinpoint areas for improvement. This kind of technology helps them take ownership of their learning in a way that simply wasn't possible before. \r\n\r\nIt was such a pleasure to receive this iPad, knowing it will benefit not only my current students but also future classes. Your thoughtful donation will have a lasting impact, and I can already see the excitement in my students' faces as they use the iPad to refine their language abilities. \r\n\r\nThank you once again to the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Community for making this possible. With No Fear Shakespeare, for example, students are learning how to bridge the gap between modern language and the original text. They practice comparing the two side-by-side, noticing how meaning, tone, and word choice shift. This helps them build vocabulary, recognize theme development, and appreciate literary devices like metaphor and dramatic irony. Most importantly, they learn that Shakespeare is not something to be afraid of—it becomes accessible, relatable, and even enjoyable when students have the tools to break it down.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is active, visual, and collaborative. We use annotation strategies, partner reading, performance-based reading, and small group discussion to make the text come alive. Students may act out short scenes, storyboard major plot moments, or discuss how a character's choices shape the conflict. Reading is not silent and passive here—it's movement, voice, questioning, and connection. Students are encouraged to talk through confusions, make predictions, and challenge each other's interpretations. The room often feels like a lively book club mixed with a rehearsal space.\r\n\r\nSome students are especially thriving with No Fear Shakespeare. Students who usually feel unsure about older language have expressed excitement when they realize they understand what's happening in the scene. One student who rarely volunteers in discussions raised their hand to explain a metaphor about power—because the modern translation helped build confidence first. Another student who loves theater has taken the lead in reading characters aloud, helping classmates hear tone and emotion. The text has allowed students with different strengths—performers, analyzers, deep thinkers—to shine in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThe rewards in our classroom help reinforce this growth and effort. Of course they LOVE the yummy treats and do work harder for them. When a student earns Student of the Week, they get a certificate and a gold crown. These students demonstrate leadership, kindness, or strong engagement during lessons—crowns are worn proudly for the class (some wear them all day lol). Our Student of the Week spotlight celebrates character and progress, giving students public recognition for their commitment to learning. The Wall of Excellence displays student breakthroughs—beautiful annotations, strong paragraphs, thoughtful reflections—so students can literally see their progress and feel proud of it. These rewards create a positive classroom culture where effort is noticed, growth is celebrated, and students are motivated to love reading. Thank you for making all of this possible. Please know that you have made a lot of sophomores love school, love learning again, and enjoy reading.","fullyFundedDate":1755114158589,"projectUrl":"project/reading-recognition-and-rewards/9567562/","projectTitle":"Reading, Recognition, and Rewards!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. West","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4735748_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754757692911","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4735748"},{"teacherId":9511850,"projectId":9568273,"letterContent":"I am very appreciative of your generosity in helping my students and me this year.
