I am a first-year media specialist. The previous media specialist had set a school culture of reading excitement with an Accelerated Reading Rewards program for 2nd -5th grade students! When I took over, I wanted to bring the library alive with color and engagement to help take our reading excitement to the next level by including our middle and high school students in the reading challenges!\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOur school is the smallest public PreK-12th grade school in our state! So, bringing the media center alive and creating excitement for our students who have been on our campus and in our media center since early elementary was an important part of my mission for the first year. Over the summer I painted our walls, which were all white with vibrant blues, orange, lime green, and purple! I cleaned all the bookshelf tops and partnered with the art teacher to have students create paper Mache art as well as drawings and paintings to fit our new Under the Sea theme in the media center! \r\n\tMy Reading Comes Alive project helped us to create this new and exciting media center for our students to enjoy! The first day of school a high school student walked in and said, \"Wow, this went from looking like a government building to a fun place to come and read!\" The Reading Comes Alive project provided us with beautiful accent boarders for our book and display cases, book baskets to organize and highlight book series', a soothing reading lamp for the reading center, cardstock to print our reading rewards on, a snack pack to compliment our reading rewards, and a puppet tree to help organize our puppets for the primary classes to use for recreating stories!\r\n\tThank you again for helping me fulfill my vision to bring the Media Center and Reading Alive!\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMrs. Jill Whitcomb\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMedia Specialist","fullyFundedDate":1755253861071,"projectUrl":"project/reading-comes-alive/9571750/","projectTitle":"Reading Comes Alive","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Whitcomb","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10164283"},{"teacherId":10162858,"projectId":9559479,"letterContent":"I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to our elementary school students. Thanks to your support, our i iCan, iWill, iGrow: A Reward Program for iReady Success - Reward Cart is now up and running, and it's making a big impact!\r\nOur students have embraced the new reward system with so much excitement and enthusiasm. From the moment they saw the cart filled with rewards and learning incentives, their faces lit up with joy. One student even said, \"This feels like a prize store from a game show!\" It was such a wonderful moment to witness their pure excitement over something that connects fun with academic achievement.\r\nWe've started using the reward cart as part of our i-Ready goals program. When students meet their weekly progress targets students K – 2 earn a reward. In grades 3 – 5 they earn a Golden Ticket to drop in our Magic Box. Names get pulled weekly on the school news. This has been an incredible motivator, not just for individual success, but also for encouraging classroom community.\r\nThank you again for making this possible. You didn't just donate materials, you helped create a stronger learning environment filled with motivation, joy, and a real sense of achievement.
