Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your donation of Stephen King's If It Bleeds and Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez's Chronicle of a Death Foretold. As you know, I serve a Title I school where every student qualifies for free or reduced lunch, meaning your contribution is directly impacting a very necessary and often underserved part of our society. For many of my students, owning or even reliably accessing these high-quality, thought-provoking novels is simply not an option. You didn't just donate books; you provided equity and opportunity.\r\n\r\nWe know many of you love reading but may not know exactly how we teach these complex texts. Rest assured, these books are foundational to building real college skills. The Márquez novella is a masterclass in challenging the reader—it immediately forces us to debate narrative reliability and analyze structural complexity, skills crucial for understanding advanced literature and even real-world journalism. Meanwhile, King's work is a fantastic gateway. It lets us dive deep into the writer's craft and thematic power through accessible, modern stories. We focus on close reading, where students annotate, argue, and dissect language, and then we move into lively Socratic seminars where they lead the conversation and debate the author's choices. Reading in my classroom is less about silence and more about active engagement, curiosity, and debate. \r\n\r\nIt's been wonderful watching specific students connect with these new titles. Knowing that this high-level, enriching work is now within their reach, without the stress of cost, is genuinely heartwarming. Thank you again for making this deep, meaningful work possible for our incredibly deserving students.","fullyFundedDate":1762611099012,"projectUrl":"project/novels-for-ela/9466266/","projectTitle":"Novels for ELA","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Guerrero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10080920"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46280","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":980,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":27.6,"schoolId":46280,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Avon Park High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Avon Park High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/highlands-county-school-district/avon-park-high-school/46280"}
