The grandmother of two chess teammates used her crickut iron-on vinyl skills and tools to print 42 tee shirts! The shirts were worn on Saturday January 24th for the North Region Tournament and our 4-5 team earned 5th place. This means that we will go on to compete at the District Tournament on April 25th, 2026. Parents and siblings also wore the shirts at the tournament and our team all came on stage together to receive our huge trophy. The cohesiveness of wearing the shirts contributes to the overall team spirit and sense of belonging for all of the families involved in chess. Chess2Think will also support the development of essential skills to better prepare students for post-secondary education and career development. All Title I schools are eligible and encouraged to participate in the Chess2Think Initiative, however, this was the first year that our school was included. The program is a combination of in-person direct instructional support at the school site in addition to a host of online content to supplement learning.
