Every year I have students who ask for more challenging programming tasks. Solving problems using a web-based tool does not hold their interest. \r\n\r\nThis robot will allow me to give them a challenge where they can see their results carried out by the robot right in the classroom. I really like this tool because I can start them out with a simple task. Make the robot go forward 3 meters turn around and come back. And then extend it incrementally to more complicated tasks: Use the bump sensors to find the way out of a maze. \r\n\r\nThe students will also be able to expand on the tasks using their own ideas and interests. This is the part that really gets me excited. If the students are excited enough to create their own challenges, that is when they really start learning. Ex. Figure out how to make the robot navigate the maze using the distance sensor or using the camera to identify the walls. \r\n\r\nThe robot comes with enough sensors to provide many challenges and it allows them to get started without becoming frustrating. My students are currently studying for AP Exams and finals, but soon they will be done with that and looking for something to capture their interest. This is an excellent tool to create excitement and get them to dig deeper.\r\n\r\nI think your donation will make an impact on many students lives by inspiring them to try new things and work hard to achieve their goals. They will make stronger connections to programming using this real-world tool.","fullyFundedDate":1738167798527,"projectUrl":"project/driving-stem-with-a-robot-kit/9068907/","projectTitle":"Driving STEM With a Robot Kit","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Stelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-stelly"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_123581","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3217,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.2,"schoolId":123581,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Windermere High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Windermere High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/orange-county-public-schools/windermere-high-school/123581"}
