About 40 of our students and their families signed up to participate in our School Community Book Club. Because of your donation, each family was given a copy of the book and materials to help support their family in reading the book together. Several parents were so excited to share their own love of reading with their students. And the students were very excited to be part of this \"club.\" \r\nBut the excitement didn't end with just giving them a copy of the book. This opportunity allowed us to cultivate a community within our school community over this shared experience. When it was suggested that they would be about halfway through the book, I had a little mid-way celebration with the students during the school day. They made peacock rings (like the ones in the story) and bookmark to gift to the family member reading with them. They had fun talking with the other students about the mystery in the book and their experiences reading with their family. We also had a school fundraiser night at a local restaurant and invited the book club families to come and talk about the book. Over 10 families from the book club were able to come!\r\nWe will be wrapping up our book club later this month at our school's Reading Under the Stars event. The families are invited to sit in a special book club zone. I think this will be a great way for our families and our students to connect with a shared reading experience. \r\nThank you for giving us the chance to create this book loving community at our school. I will definitely be working to do this again next year and I know that many more of our families will want to participate.","fullyFundedDate":1762968896337,"projectUrl":"project/school-community-wide-book-club/9757918/","projectTitle":"School Community-wide Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Donley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9873579"},{"teacherId":10184914,"projectId":9616381,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my Rainy Day Fun project for my fifth graders. When our indoor recess games arrived, the students were so excited. They could not wait to open everything and look through all the games like Mancala, Uno, Checkers, Chutes and Ladders, Guess Who, and more. We talked about what it means to take care of things that belong to all of us and how to treat one another with kindness and respect while we play.\r\n\r\nWhen we have the opportunity to use them during indoor recess, I have already seen such a positive impact. Students are learning to take turns, communicate, solve disagreements calmly, and celebrate each other. We have had great conversations about sportsmanship, tone of voice, and using encouraging words. It has been so nice to watch them play together, laugh, share, and build stronger relationships.\r\n\r\nThese donations will continue to bring joy to rainy days and indoor recess for the rest of the year.
