Your contribution helped turn what could have been a simple lesson into a hands-on scientific investigation that allowed students to think and work like environmental scientists.\r\n\r\nThis week, students collected and tested water samples from all of the buildings on our campus, as well as a sample of bottled water. They analyzed the samples and compared the results to EPA standards for drinking water. The exciting news is that every tap water sample from our school met EPA standards. Interestingly, the bottled water sample actually showed a higher than normal pH. This sparked great discussion in class about water quality, how municipal water is treated, and how bottled water is regulated.\r\n\r\nThrough this activity, students also learned about our local water treatment processes and explored the environmental impacts of the bottled water industry. Many were surprised to learn about issues such as forever chemicals and the global problem of plastic waste. By the end of the investigation, students concluded that our city's drinking water is safe and that choosing tap water can be a more environmentally responsible option.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping bring meaningful, real-world science into my classroom. Your generosity made this experience possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1760629105167,"projectUrl":"project/sip-or-skip-water-fountain-science/9579941/","projectTitle":"Sip or Skip?
