I had been teaching special needs students for a few years but they were in higher grade levels and in those years I only had one nonverbal student. Imagine my surprise this year when seven out of nine k-2 students were nonverbal. I realized I was unprepared and needed to make a quick pivot. \r\nWith your help, I was able to create many visuals for the students and create a warm and fun environment that they could learn in. I was also able to create activities for them that are laminated so they can do them over and over.
