This project was designed with students' comfort, safety, and well-being in mind—just as most teachers strive to do.\r\nOver the summer, I realized that many of the incoming kindergarteners were new to an educational setting and would need extra tools to help with the transition. Simple routines, like walking in a line, didn't come naturally at first. But having their own numbered sticker on the floor gave them a sense of belonging and direction, helping them move from the classroom to other areas of campus in an orderly way.\r\nSimilarly, their individual lanyards have been lifesavers! During the first weeks of school, these kept lunch numbers handy as students navigated the lunch line and carried their trays. Even now, they rely on them when they forget their student number or PIN for logging into computers.\r\nOur classroom is blessed with beautiful windows, but living in the Sunshine State means lots of bright rays. The light rainbow curtain panels added a cheerful splash of color while filtering excess sunlight, making the room more welcoming and comfortable.\r\nIn math block, we love counting the days we've been in school, and the number dots that label each student's books and bins keep us organized.\r\nOne of our favorite donated materials has been the behavior management resource—the reward jar! This quarter, we worked together to earn stars and fill the jar, which led to a donut party as our class reward.\r\nYour donation has truly made a difference for these kindergarteners during their first school year. Thank you for investing in their future—I hope you'll continue to support one class project at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1755917494788,"projectUrl":"project/a-new-journey-begins/9488893/","projectTitle":"A New Journey Begins!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8951412_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723682535596","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8951412"},{"teacherId":8946846,"projectId":9314122,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in providing our new rug and classroom supplies! The moment my students walked in and saw the rug, their faces lit up with excitement. They couldn't wait to sit together in our new meeting space. We now use the rug daily for morning meetings, math talks, and read-alouds—it has truly become the heart of our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during a math collaboration activity: students gathered on the rug with their notebooks and shared different strategies for solving multiplication problems. The cozy, welcoming space encouraged them to open up, listen, and learn from one another. The classroom supplies you provided have also helped students stay organized and more engaged in their work.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we'll continue to use this space to build community and dive deeper into our lessons. Students used green activity balls to work together comfortably, then worked together to define each word using sentence clues, identify the context clues that helped them, and draw illustrations to show their understanding. This interactive game was not only engaging but also aligned perfectly with our current unit on animals, helping students connect new vocabulary to real-world concepts.\r\n\r\nThe moment students saw the green activity balls and fresh supplies, their faces lit up with curiosity and joy. During independent reading time, many chose to dive into our new Dog Man books, which have quickly become classroom favorites. These high-interest texts have sparked a love for reading and given students opportunities to apply context clue strategies in a fun and meaningful way. The classwork organizer has also been a game-changer, helping students keep track of their vocabulary work, reading logs, and drawings with ease and pride.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be expanding our vocabulary work by incorporating student-created sentences and peer feedback, continuing to build confidence and comprehension.
