My students were incredibly excited when they realized each one of them would have their own professional-grade compass. They loved the precision and solid feel of the new tools, and it immediately transformed the subject from rote memorization into a hands-on, engaging challenge. Seeing their enthusiasm and the sheer focus they put into using their new equipment was a truly heartwarming classroom moment—it showed them that geometry is something they can do, not just read about.\r\nAs we move forward, the next step for my students is to leverage these foundational skills to dive into Euclidean proofs and construction theory. We will use their newfound proficiency to construct complex geometric objects like perpendicular bisectors and inscribed angles, which are essential for the upcoming unit on circle theorems and advanced geometric proofs. Your contribution didn't just give us tools; it gave my students the confidence and ability to engage with abstract concepts in a concrete way, setting them up for success in higher-level math. Thank you again for making this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1757535329979,"projectUrl":"project/building-geometry-skills-with-compasses/9649931/","projectTitle":"Building Geometry Skills with Compasses","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eyana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10113719"},{"teacherId":9927077,"projectId":9120594,"letterContent":"I used the materials for the application of the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios. The students were instructed to build a bridge using popsicle sticks, and the meter stick was used to find the height of the structures in school. When the students first saw the materials, they were very excited and curious. They immediately started sharing ideas on how they could design and build their bridges. Some students were surprised that they would be using popsicle sticks for a math activity, but they became more engaged when they realized how it connected to the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios. The next step for my students is to apply what they learned about the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios by testing the stability and accuracy of their bridge designs. They will measure angles and side lengths to verify their calculations, then reflect on how math concepts are used in real-world engineering and architecture. This hands-on project encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity while deepening their understanding of geometry and trigonometry.","fullyFundedDate":1750301015740,"projectUrl":"project/popsicle-bridge/9120594/","projectTitle":"Popsicle Bridge","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barbasan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9927077"},{"teacherId":9712526,"projectId":9224606,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are experiencing math in a whole new way! The iPads and geoboards you helped bring into our classroom have transformed how we approach learning thus making lessons more interactive, hands-on, and engaging.\r\n\r\nThe iPad have opened up so many new ways for my students to learn. They love using apps, visuals, and practice tools that adjust to their level, giving them quick feedback and helping them feel more confident. What excites them most is being able to show their thinking in creative ways like sketching graphs, solving problems step by step, and even working together digitally.\r\n\r\nI've seen some really special changes too. One student who usually stayed quiet now jumps at the chance to explain his work using the iPad. Another student who always found geometry tough is now one of the most excited voices in class whenever we use the geoboards.\r\n\r\nYour support hasn't just given us tools. The iPad allows me to provide personalized lessons and interactive practice, especially during small groups. It has promoted engagement in the class as students get excited when they have an opportunity to write on the iPad and proudly share their work with their peers. This has not only built confidence but also encouraged collaboration and class discussions.\r\n\r\nThe geoboards have given students a hands-on way to visualize geometry concepts, making abstract ideas about shapes, angles, and patterns easier to grasp. What excites my students most is the combination of technology and hands-on learning. The iPad keeps them motivated and curious, while the geoboards spark creativity and critical thinking. Because of your support, my students are more engaged, confident, and eager to share their mathematical ideas with others. Thanks to your support, my students have had the opportunity to engage with math in a more confident and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nThe calculators have been a game-changer in my classroom, allowing students to focus on problem-solving and critical thinking rather than getting stuck on tedious calculations. Many of my students struggle with basic arithmetic, and having access to this technology has helped them feel more capable when tackling complex equations. The reference charts have also provided a valuable visual aid, reinforcing key concepts and making abstract ideas more tangible.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting for my students is the newfound independence and efficiency these tools provide. They love being able to verify their work quickly, which has boosted their confidence and willingness to participate in class discussions. The charts have also sparked more engagement, with students using them to support each other in group work and discussions.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who previously hesitated to engage with math due to frustration with calculations, has shown a remarkable shift in attitude. With a calculator in hand, they are now more willing to attempt problems and actively participate in class. Seeing this transformation has been truly rewarding.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided materials but has also empowered my students to see themselves as capable mathematicians.
