When we received the soil it was too late to begin winter gardening and too early to begin the spring gardening. We used a few of the bags of soil to add to a few flower boxes we were planting, and we used pansies to beautify the front of the school. We are reserving most of the bags of soil to go into our produce container beds. When the temperature is safe to plant our students use gardening materials and plant produce such as peppers, tomatoes, melons, strawberries, and much more. We have eight produce container beds and our students enjoy going outside to prepare the soil and care for the garden crops. I apologize that we were not able to plant food items before the winter freeze and holiday closing. We liked the soil we received because it was compressed and when we had water it absorbed the water and covered a wider area. The bags are easy to carry because they are not too heavy for the students to lift.
