It was because of you that my students got to read this amazing story, Los Ojos de Goya. \r\nThe Spanish level 3 classes began reading Los ojos de Goya on The 25th of August, 2025. I received many \"Oh, really? We're reading a Spanish novel? Well, that's going to be boring! We read the first two episodes together as a class. This was my attempt to put some excitement into this task. The students listened begrudgingly. I could hear the growing sighs in the back of the room. \"I need you to try enjoying the book. It's chuck full of history of Spain.\" I said excitedly. After reading the first chapter we looked up information about the story, and the secondary character mentioned in the title of the book, but also throughout -Francisco Goya. We talked about his trials and tribulations as both a painter and person, and about it influenced his art. We discussed specifically Goya's black paintings, and THIS caught my students' attention. We read two chapters a week and completed pertinent comprehension questions, and conducted class discussions, and speculated about what would happen next. My students' loved the story, and so did I. \r\n\r\nI would like to share a few comments from some of my students. One said, \"I loved the plot twists int the book, and how Montse was trying to look for clues to find her father.\" - A.S. (Initials used per request)\r\n\r\nAnother student stated, \"The book, \"Los Ojos de Goya\" is a great book for our class. It has many valuable vocabulary words to help grow our understanding of the language. The glossary in the back also helps with my comprehension of the book. The plot is very intriguing. I never expected the twists and turns of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to any Spanish class wanting to see vocabulary in use for a story.\" - P.B.(initials used per request)\r\n\r\nI can not say that all the students enjoyed reading, but overall, they saw the value of the material presented. It was a great read for my classes. I can't wait to read it again with my classes. \r\n\r\nA million thanks to all of you who made this happen.
