Many students had never seen a rain barrel before, and they were fascinated by the idea of collecting rainwater to care for our plants. Right away, they started sharing ideas about what we could grow and how our project would help make our school garden more beautiful. It was such a joyful moment to see them connect science concepts like conservation and sustainability to something real they can see and touch every day.\r\n\r\n Now that the materials are here, my students are busy mapping out where each item will go in our outdoor space and researching the best plants for our garden. They can't wait to measure how much water we collect with the rain barrel and to watch their plants grow strong and healthy in the pots and raised bed. The next step is planting, nurturing, and eventually sharing the results of their hard work with the whole school. This project has given them not only hands-on learning but also a true sense of pride in leaving their mark on our campus.
