We have been able to use the scales to weigh the materials for multiple labs. The first lab we used the scales for was for a Free Fall Lab. The purpose of this lab was to determine the relationship between mass and gravity. The students had to find the mass of each object using the scales. Then the students performed the drop test. They did three trials using one bean bag then had to complete the same process using an additional bean bag. They used a stopwatch to measure the time it took for the bean bags to drop and then calculated the acceleration of the object. This lab went along with the standard S8P5 which states students will obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about gravity, electricity, and magnetism as major forces acting in nature. We plan on using these scales with the majority of our labs throughout the year. I cannot thank you enough for donating to our class! Because of your help, the students are able to learn with more hands on and engaging labs.
