The plastic reeds are much more durable and suitable for this weather as well which is high humidity, affecting the wooded reeds. \r\n\r\nThe TV is used daily with the larger screen allowing me to display notes and passages my entire class reads together more clearly, it also doesn't cut off on the corners like the other TVs do. For many of my students, this has become a real motivator. One of the first moments that stood out was during preparation for a holiday assembly, when students used the cart to safely and efficiently move sound equipment from our classroom to the gym. What used to be a stressful and time-consuming task became a smooth, student-led process, giving them a real sense of responsibility and ownership.\r\n\r\nThe Posca paint markers were quickly claimed for Spirit Week preparation. Students stayed after school to paint banners, create bold visuals, and design flyers that helped build excitement across campus. Seeing their ideas come to life on large banners made them feel proud of their work and confident in their ability to lead and contribute in visible ways. The snacks were just as meaningful, providing support and energy for students who stayed late during the busiest weeks leading up to major events.\r\n\r\nThis project has benefited a mix of middle and high school students, many of whom balance academics, leadership responsibilities, and family obligations. Having these materials available showed them that their time and effort are valued. It also allowed them to focus on collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving rather than worrying about lacking basic resources.\r\n\r\nThe next steps include preparing for upcoming assemblies, continuing banner campaigns, and supporting new leadership projects that bring our school community together. These resources will continue to be used throughout the year as students plan events, promote schoolwide initiatives, and strengthen school culture and pride. First things first is the amp that is now used daily in class. My classroom, although old, is big. Teaching Ukulele, it is important that I am heard over the wave of constant strumming and plucking. Connecting my ukulele has helped a lot in this process so they can hear and focus when necessary. \r\nThe melodicas, also part of the request have stored as they are not going to be used until next school year when I introduce choir. The rest of this school year has been scheduled. I did however show the students which excited them for next year, and I use it often as my classroom doesn't have a working piano quite yet. As such I want to thank the HIDOE for the $1000 donation that helped fund a majority of this program as I start as a new teacher here at Nānākuli.
