Your contribution included the funding of markers, colored pencils, expo makers, playdoh, children stories (spanish), and games. We have colored pictures and made spanish story books with the markers and colored pencils. Students used the play doh to create and share different parts of a story we created as a class. Recreating portions of the story with play doh was much more fun than writing it out. \r\n\r\nYour support not only helps me this year, but I can use many of these materials in years to come. The students were so excited to read the book and have a change in pace from the regular activities. Small chapter books (novelas) in a Spanish classroom are proven to enhance comprehension and language acquisition. \r\n\r\nWords cannot describe the look on my students faces when I passed out the book. Their eyes glowed and their smiles grew. If you can make a tired high school student beam with excitement, you can do anything. I was actually surprised at their reaction. \r\n\r\nThe book is about the life of a fly who wants to make friends with the people of the house. \r\nAlthough, we are not done reading it, I can tell that the students are gaining confidence in their ability to speak and read. They are learning different Spanish idioms and gaining a stronger understanding of verb usage and sentence structure. We have practiced converting some of the pages into past tense, and we have enjoyed a little bit of readers theater to help reproduce the language. \r\n\r\nThe books have been such a success, I can't wait to use them again for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1732651253674,"projectUrl":"project/comprehensible-tools-for-class/8866690/","projectTitle":"Comprehensible Tools for Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9621171"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52492","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":263,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":52492,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Soda Springs High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Soda Springs High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/idaho/soda-springs-joint-school-district-150/soda-springs-high-school/52492"}
