This project has helped my students build a strong foundation in coding by learning the basics of block coding without using screens. Many donors are familiar with technology at home, but in our classroom these unplugged coding materials allow students to understand how coding works at a deeper level. By physically arranging blocks, symbols, and sequences, students learn about algorithms, patterns, and logical thinking in a concrete and age-appropriate way. This hands-on approach makes abstract coding concepts easier to grasp and supports problem-solving, communication, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is that they feel like real coders right away. They love working with the tangible pieces, testing their sequences, and fixing mistakes when something does not work as planned. The materials turn coding into a game-like challenge, which keeps students motivated and engaged. Students are excited to collaborate, explain their thinking, and celebrate when their code works, all without the pressure of screens or devices.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with this new technology, particularly those who learn best through movement and hands-on activities. Students who may feel overwhelmed by computers gain confidence because they can touch, move, and physically see their code. I have also noticed students who are typically hesitant to participate becoming more willing to take risks and share ideas. Thanks to this project, my students are building confidence and essential coding skills that will support their future learning in technology and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1763583364950,"projectUrl":"project/crack-the-code-unplugged-coding-fun-for/9716156/","projectTitle":"Crack the Code: Unplugged Coding Fun for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Benavidez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2782256_orig.png?crop=304,304,x61,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689174742478","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2782256"},{"teacherId":10272612,"projectId":9742228,"letterContent":"Wow. They all want to try and get their hands dirty on something! They have enjoyed tracing letters using the sensory boards - which is a wonderful tool for mastering fine motor skills! Equally as fun is using magnetic disks to make numbers only to follow up with the magnetic wand! They just come right up! Our Toniebox is a giant success and we've already switched out the Tonies and books we've read. Your gifts have given us what our classroom needs!\r\n\r\nWith the help of your donation, I was initially set to order materials to focus on Social and Emotional learning. Unfortunatly my items were unavailable at the beginning of this school year. On top of that, our school recieved a grant to purchase more SEL tools. Knowing what my students are like and what we need to be comfortable, I chose to purchase a dehumidifier, lamtinating sheets, and a Teacher's Pay Teachers Gift Card.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, during lessons I am able to purchase and provide materials that are laminated to withstand the hands of 5 and 6 year olds. These learning tools can be used time and time again, saving me from having to reprint. Students are able to trace over that is inside of a laminating sheet, providing them with the necessary tools to learn letter formations. \r\n\r\nWhile I cannot say that they personally use the dehumidifier, they are benefiting. Our room is less soggy, things stay up on the walls, and it's so much cooler in our learning environment. These things are key to students who don't handle sensory issues with ease. \r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nMrs. A.","fullyFundedDate":1746787111767,"projectUrl":"project/a-little-spot-goes-a-long-way/9266064/","projectTitle":"A Little Spot Goes a Long Way","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. A.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5573255_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1534117170373","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-anson"},{"teacherId":2782256,"projectId":9056472,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students now have access to Ozobots—an exciting, hands-on tool that's opening doors to new ways of learning. For many of my students, this was their very first experience with coding and robotics. Watching them light up as they successfully programmed a robot to follow their commands has been nothing short of inspiring. Ozobots have helped my students build critical skills like sequencing, debugging, and collaboration, all while making learning feel like play. These small robots have had a big impact—students who were once hesitant to engage in STEM activities are now confidently solving problems and working together to create complex code paths.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is how interactive and creative Ozobot lessons can be. They love drawing colorful code paths with markers or using block-based programming on tablets to make their bots dance, change direction, or complete a challenge. One student, who often struggles to stay focused in other subjects, has become a classroom leader during Ozobot time, enthusiastically helping peers debug their code and cheering them on. It's moments like these that show how your donation is helping unlock potential and build confidence in our most at-risk learners. Thank you for believing in our students and making these joyful, transformative learning experiences possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746800786977,"projectUrl":"project/igniting-stem-learning-for-our-future-in/9056472/","projectTitle":"Igniting STEM Learning for Our Future Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Benavidez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2782256_orig.png?crop=304,304,x61,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689174742478","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2782256"},{"teacherId":9143891,"projectId":8469685,"letterContent":"With your generosity, we were able to implement a non-verbal system to help our students understand expectations and share their feelings. The Care Closet represents a tangible example of kindness, providing a sense of security and comfort for students facing difficult situations.\r\n\r\nIn addition, students were actively involved in developing calming bins for classrooms, filled with sensory tools and calming resources to support emotional regulation.
